One Way to Help

There are so many great causes that need support during this economic downturn.

How do you choose one?

I am often moved by something that has touched someone I know directly.

Recently one of our SouthField families stayed at a Ronald McDonald House while their child had an extended hospital stay in Chicago.

The House could use a few items. If you bring them to church, we'll make sure they get there.

The list includes:
Pop can tabs: Remove the tabs from every beverage can you consume and save them. The RMC recycles them and receives the market value of the recycled metal plus a donation from United Scrap Metal.
Household items: paper napkins, paper towels, 13-gallon kitchen garbage bags, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes.
Office items: 8 1/2 x 11 white copy paper, scotch tape
Kitchen items: juice boxes, individual snacks and cereals, canned soup
Family items: gift certificates from Jewel, Dominick's and Target, family-friendly movie DVDs (rated G and PG only), gifts for teenagers

Stories that Inspire Thanks!

Sunday morning we'll be sharing some great stories!

God has been working in the lives of SouthFielders, and we want you to know about it.

You'll hear from Pete and Donna Buck. They were baptized last summer and are growing like crazy.

Our junior high students will share a growth opportunity they've been experiencing.

We also have a fun clip of them telling us what they are thankful for and what they love to eat at Thanksgiving!

Plus we've got an amazing story of something God has done for all of us. We've been saving it up to share with you this weekend.

All this, plus prayers of thanksgiving, communion and great music.

It's a great way to wrap up Thanksgiving weekend and kick off the Advent Season.

Call Me Gameboy

In a few minutes I will head over to Pioneer Path School to do my volunteer role for the week (that's right, I volunteer too). I'm the Junior High game guy.

We start out the night with a wacky contest. Tonight we'll attach donuts to a fishing line made of rubber bands attached to a "fishing pole" and feeding human carp while they lay on the ground. Fun times!
